ABOUT LEAM YOGA
I'm Lucy, the founder of LEAM yoga. I'm based in Walthamstow E17, East London. I teach and facilitate grounding and thought-provoking yoga, breath work, meditation and movement classes for all abilities and body types. Classes are centred around themes relating to anatomy, physiology, yogic philosophy and my life experiences. I am extremely passionate about making yoga accessible to the varied body types, ages, life experiences and injuries we have within our communities. With the right support and guidance, I believe that yoga can be accessed by everybody to provide enjoyment, release and connection.
I have been teaching and training for over 10 years and I have a broad range of teaching qualifications. LEAM represents my initials but also means to 'gleam' and to 'shine' which I believe comes from the deep transformation which yoga brings. I am based in E17 but teach all over East and North London. I teach vinyasa, hatha, slow flow, pregnancy, post-natal, parent and baby yoga, pranayama (breath work) and meditation.

All of our bodies are different, we are all at different stages in our lives. Our bodies and experiences change each day. "Begin where you are" at this moment, without judgement or expectation. You are already enough.
Begin where you are
MY STORY
Finding freedom and connection
I started practicing yoga due to tight muscles and a bad back from running, team sports and too much partying. However I quickly started noticing the profound and incredible benefits of yoga on my overall wellbeing and how much it impacted my mind and body. Over a number of years I went on to deepen my practice and knowledge. I first trained in drama and movement at Hull University (2.1 B.A Hons) and then went on to become a drama and movement teacher in Yorkshire. I completed my PGCE at Sheffield university as an 'Outstanding teacher' and I have taught as a senior teacher for many years in secondary schools. I trained to be a Hatha yoga teacher, completing my 200 hours with the Hari Om yoga school in Milan, Italy. I then studied a further 200 hour yoga course over 16 months with YogaCampus London where I passed with Distinction as an outstanding teacher. Further to this, I trained in pre-natal, post-natal and parent and baby yoga/massage as I studied with birth/yoga specialist and doula, Alexa Dean with The Shala in London. I have also trained in a variety of workshops and classes all over the world. I have practiced, trained and taught in in Italy, Spain, Morocco, Japan, Ibiza, Sri Lanka and Bali.

Although I am now a full time yoga teacher, I am also a senior and experienced secondary drama teacher and have spent many years teaching in schools in Yorkshire and London.
